Algae and their extracts have rich active compounds that can be utilized to cosmetic application and then benefit our health for body or skin. In past study, GA-902 was purified from the ethanol extracts of green algae and had high tyrosinase inhibitory activity in vitro compared to positive control kojic acid. This study was modified the plant factory (wavelength during 400-700nm by LED) as the green algae fermenter to increase the GA-902 products. In these studies, GA-902 was able to stimulate cell proliferation. These results suggested that ethanol extraction of green algae (GA-902) reduced melanin synthesis by down-regulation of tyrosinase activity and served as a new candidate in the design of new skin-care agents including in anti-oxidant, anti-aging, and whitening skin care products. In addition, the new bio-membrane (AX32 membrane) was constructed by using Acetobacter xylimum (AX-32, isolated from acetate factory in Taiwan). GA-902 was used as cosmetic ingredient into this new biomembrane AX32 and named AX-GA membrane. In addition, the optimal condition of AX-GA membrane was analyzed for cosmetic application. The optimal operating conditions to synthesize AX-GA membrane were as follows: inoculated 108 CFU/ml AX-32 strain into 500 ml culture broth, fermented for 3 days and mixed with 2 g GA902 stewing. After five days, 132.5g AXGA membrane was obtained. The synthesized AXGA membrane can inhibit tyrosinase activity and stimulate cell proliferation for 85% and 77%, respectively. These results suggested the new cosmetic membrane AXGA had the potential of whitening and anti-aging for cosmetics application.
