Stephanie Trend
I completed a BSc with honours at the University of Western Australia in 2006, and have worked in diagnostic microbiology laboratories as well as in oncology clinical trials, before beginning my PhD at the School of Paediatrics and Child Health at the University of Western Australia in 2011.
My PhD research was about cellular and soluble antimicrobial proteins in preterm mothers' milk, and how these contribute to protection of preterm infants against bacterial infection. I have since moved into the field of respiratory medicine, investigating the interaction of bacteria with host airway epithelium and the use of bacteriophages to treat lung infections in children with cystic fibrosis.
